Film / TV track Rollers and Breakers by composer Rodney Newton

Audio:
Context: A lively, ‘game of the waves’ piece depicting the sea in motion on a clear, windy day (the debt to Debussy is obvious and intentional). Sunlight sparkles on the waves as they break on the shore, sending up clouds of spray and foam. From Seascapes Suite 1.

Moods: Epic, Energetic, Fun
Genres: Orchestral
Tempo: Fast

I like all your Seascape pieces, but I like this one most of all. As well as being an excellent interpretation of the title, it also reminds me of the bygone days of film scoring. A very accomplished piece and certainly an inspiration for me.

This has that classic black and white movie sound.
So nostalgic . It decribes your seascape very well, but it has so much more to offer . This is master scoring at it's best. So brilliant and very inspiring.

I agree wholeheartedly with Mick that this is master scoring. This takes you back to the old classics such as Treasure Island. The detail in the winds, and their slightly metallic feel, is also reminiscent of John Williams' scores of the 70s/80s era.

We are not worthy! The picture this paints is so vivid, you need a waterproof on to listen to it! The production, mix, musicianship & score is awesome.

As a composition in its own right you can't fault this (though my ears pricked up at 2:35ish) Not sure about the context though - I didn't feel the sea with this piece though I'm sure with visuals it would work. Definitely something to aspire to on the orchestration front though.

Sumptuous orchestration and a lovely 'jumpy' feel. Reminds me in places of works by Stravinsky and Korngold, but that is never a bad thing in my book and the skill on display here certainly is inspirational.

Is there a 'become a fan of Rodney Newton' button anywhere on this page? I loved this track so much. I love the transparency achieved in the orchestration so you hear all the intricacies of the writing and counterpoint. Sure it is easy to say that there are hints of Debussy or Holst or Vaughan Williams - all of them geniuses in my view - but I think stylistically this stands up all by itself. Love it
